Lovely Series: Scorpion

So I've been describing Scorpion as "if the makers of NCIS LA were to make a remake of the A-Team with a Big Bang Theory-esque cast". It is action packed, clever, very sarcastic, quite over the top, and absolutely wonderful!

The characters are definitely flawed, yet there isn't a single one that I dislike. I do have a special place in my heart for child prodigy Ralph though. He's not in every episode, but he shows up quite regularly, and often helps save the day.

Although most episodes follow the same recipe, there is a huge variety of cases on this show. The Scorpion team takes on anything and everything you could think of that would require a group of geniuses to help fix/undo/stop/build.

This was the first show I discovered since cable television re-entered my life. I have yet to catch up on a big chunk of the first season, but even watching this from the second season on it was easy to follow and very, very addictive.

Lovely Series: Dead Like Me

Ever since I moved and gave up cable I've been mostly relying on DVDs. And mostly on the double-edged sword that is cancelled tv-shows. It's cheap to invest in their full sets, but it's also sad to run out of episodes so quickly.

I might just go through withdrawal when I'm through my Dead Like Me DVDs. I'm so accustomed to seeing George and the others struggle with their "afterlives" every day while I'm eating my dinner, it's such an addictive show!

The premise of people dying and then having to work as grim reapers to collect souls of others soon to die is very interesting. I feel like it could have worked in lots of genres, but it works especially well in comedy.

There's also a movie, but from what I've heard, it isn't nearly as good as the tv show. But I might watch it as I doubt two seasons of the tv-show are enough to keep me satisfied. Thankfully I still have some episodes left...

Lovely Series: Community

It's beautiful summer weather and I wish I felt well enough for something other than watching tv. However, it's times like these that I am extra grateful I can disappear through the twisted, addictive wormhole that is Community.

I love how it has a nice balance of being goofy or plain stupid and having very clever moments. Also, every episode is very different because they tend to really go up in their themes. But they always make time for "study group" too.

I'm well aware of the fact that this isn't for everyone. But I do advise you to give it a shot. It might just grow on you. And I'm sure you'll be able to find some characters that you especially enjoy. Like the dean, or Troy and Abed...

Lovely Series: Underemployed

It's been a cold, busy and exhausting week and I really needed to spend my weekend lying on the sofa watching tv. Thankfully there was an Underemployed weekend marathon. Thank you, MTV!

Ever since the trailer aired I'd been wanting to see this show. But I had only managed to catch one episode. Until this weekend of course, now I finally had my chance to make up for most of what I had missed.

Anyway, I love this show! Yes, there is quite some relationship-drama in it, but it's not -often- too whiny or cliché. Besides, it's also about friends and jobs and finding that one thing you really love to do. All this in a quirky, and often not so glamorous way. It might seem a bit shallow at first glance, but I think they did a pretty good job at showing the issues of twenty-somethings. Sure it is dramatized too, but that helps keep it interesting, right?

Awkward.

After a rough night I wasn't feeling too good and spent all day watching "Awkward." on MTV.

Despite it including every single thing I hate about teen-shows, I absolutely love this show. I think I might've seen the whole thing, as all of a sudden the marathon started airing the first episode again. Too bad it ended on such a cliffhanger.

I am slightly very creeped out by the fact that it's about 15-year-olds though. Thankfully the actors all look much older! I don't think I could've stomached it otherwise.

Have you been watching any nice shows lately?

Lovely Series: Raising Hope

I'm back! And I had an amazing time! I feel all happy and inspired and look forward to blogging again too.

While away I still managed to watch an episode of one of my current favorite series: Raising Hope.

It's from the makers of My Name Is Earl, which I occasionally watched when nothing else was on, but didn't really like that much. Raising Hope however, is an entirely different story. I love this show!

It's unlike anything I've ever seen, yet it feels very familiar. I easily grew attached to all characters. Plus, it occasionally features Kate Miccuci! Also, for anyone who watched the Sarah Connor Chronicles it will take some getting used to a new Cromartie.

Lovely Series: New Girl

It took me some time to truly appreciate Zooey Deschanel, but now I've done it. She just does the best movies and series and I am really won over by the new series New Girl.

It is quirky and it is very very awkward in the most awesome way possible.

It's one of my current favorite shows and I always look forward to seeing a new episode. Are you watching it too?

Lovely TV Shows

Today was Queen's Day.
Once a year everyone dresses up in orange and goes outside to either sell their old stuff or buy other people's old stuff. I chose the latter.

It was raining at first, everything was getting wet and after a few minutes I was willing to give up, but I didn't and it turned out to be a great day in the end.

I will share a few pictures with you this weekend, but today I'd like to talk about just one of my acquisitions, a brand new box of Dirty Sexy Money's first season.

I love that show, but I hear they won't be making any new episodes. If any of you know whether that's true or not, please tell me.

It was just so much fun to watch, it had humor, a great plot and a killer cast. My absolute favorite person is Lisa George, the lead character's wife played by Zoe McLellan, who you might know from J.A.G.(which was awesome too). I just love her and she may or may not have been the most important reason to get the dvd box.

Here's a little fanmade trailer to give you an idea:

P.S. Against my own rules, although I did have an excuse, I made a few new bookmarks for my Etsy. I have two bow bookmarks, here and here, and there will be a few more listed soon.
