Mood & Music Mosaic #21

Big Dreams and The Headlines - Simone White

Though I've started hibernating and bundling up in blankets and shawls, I have yet to get into the cozy activities of winter. But I hope I'll get to reading, knitting and blogging more again now that the post-holiday days are here.

How were your holidays by the way?

Christmas Waltz - Mindy Gledhill

I'm finishing up my holiday shopping and gift wrapping everything. I actually haven't listened to any Christmas songs yet, but I think it's time to whip out my seasonal CDs too. Can't celebrate the holidays long enough, can you?

How is your holiday planning coming along? Almost done or are you a last-minute shopper?

Mood & Music Mosaic #19

Florida Rain - Matt Bauer

It is cold and -since the clock changed- it's been getting dark very early. It's making me want to knit more! So I hope to cast on a lovely new project soon. I have one in mind already! It'll be nice to add another warm sweater to my wardrobe.

Are you stocking up on some warm new clothes? And have you got anything on your needles?

While My Guitar Gentle Weeps - Regina Spektor

It's been a few weeks since I went to see Kubo and the Two Strings, yet I still think about it. And I keep playing the soundtrack too. So here is a collection inspired by the film. If you've seen it you'll recognize all the elements.

Did you see the movie yet? Where you blown away by it as well?

Pluto - Clare and the Reasons

I really love duck egg blue. Especially when it's combined with gold! It looks so vintage, so magical and so soothing. And I just love the items in this collage. If only I could afford that vest! I might just get those cute socks though...

What is your favorite soothing color combination?

Maybe - Isbells

We've had some serious rain recently. Days like that make me want to light a candle and sit down with a journal. Journaling has been my new go-to pastime. As a blogger it makes sense to love it. It's a bit like blogging for yourself. Or perhaps blogs are just public journals. Either way, it seems that working on either one inspires the other too.

What have you been up to lately? Any new hobbies? Or… any pretty new notebooks?

Owl Things Considered

I tend to love bird statement necklaces that show off a lot of wing. I think it looks cool and makes for an interesting shape that is incredibly eye catching. Especially so, of course, when they are owls carrying Hogwarts letters...

These cool laser cut necklaces can be found at RichardsonRichardson on Etsy. They have a few owls; one with letter, and a couple without. Some are made from plastic, and others from actual wood. And a few different sizes too.

There are plenty more witty items in the shop, as well as some Halloween designs. So follow this link to see more.

Better Man - Leon Bridges

Fall is here! Though I love the warmth of summer and am sad to see it go, I also adore the coziness Fall brings. It is perfect for creating your own bubble of music, tea and something creative. And I discovered Leon Bridges just in time!

What are you looking forward to about Fall?

My Tukoni Owls

Tukoni Tribe is a shop I always keep my eye on, as it only ever sells beautiful and cute things. Some time ago I bought a brooch of a guitar playing creature (that I somehow still haven't posted about!) and of course I also ordered the owl stickers.

I held onto them until I found the absolute perfect place for them, which ended up being my wardrobe. I have one of those big Ikea wardrobes, very plain and very white. It looks so much cooler now that it has a row of owls on it!

Anyway, the stickers (sold as two different sets) are still available in the Tukoni Tribe shop, as is a poster of the same design. But there are some other owl items too. And all the other creatures are definitely worth checking out too!

In the Mail: alleluja

It has been a rough and uncertain time. So much so that, despite previously having been so excited about my new layout, blogging never even crossed my mind. Anyway, to cheer myself up I ordered something adorable from alleluja that was bound to make me smile. Which it did! And now that I'm back, I thought I'd show you what I picked out.

It's a porcelain kitten brooch inspired by the shape of old-fashioned cookie molds. And it has such a sweet face!

I was so excited to receive this little creature! And I hope to be wearing the brooch a lot. I also loved the colorful and careful wrapping, the cute postcard, and even the tiny business card (which I'll keep and use as a bookmark).

I've blogged about alleluja twice before. And though it had been 5 years since I last treated myself to one of Sawako's creatures, the shop is thankfully still up and running; sending out gorgeous creatures to brighten people's days.

Owl Things Considered

Today I'd like to show you something that combines three of my favorite things! Owls, stationery and pretty tins…

I just adore these little sets of memos. Of course, the owl is one of my favorites, but I also love that adorable hedgehog. And I really like how these little notes fold over to create a tiny moving animal. So simple, yet so very clever.

Anyway, there are also tons of birds available, as well as a panda, and -to complete my top 3- this adorable bunny.

You can find the whole collection here on eBay, but there are also a few designs available at this Etsy Shop.

Paris Nights/New York Mornings - Corinne Bailey Rae

It is getting warmer and all of a sudden it is wonderful to be outside again. There is little I love more than exploring the city when the weather is nice. To not be in a rush, not be carrying a heavy coat around, but to just relax and go wherever I please. To lose track of time as I walk through unfamiliar streets and discover little gems along the way.

What do you like to do on those glorious warm-yet-not-too-hot spring days?

Owl Things Considered

There are plenty of fake deer available for your walls, but I love it when people do a little something different. And of course I also love owls, so I immediately took a liking to this wonderful owl from Macheanimal on Etsy.

And the shop carries plenty of other creatures. Mostly animals that actually exist (and lots of different cat and dog breeds), but there are also a few jackalopes. And I love the touch of glitter on the antlers of the one in the collage below!

There are over a hundred beautiful items in the shop, so follow this link to check out the rest of them!

Never Be That Tough - Simone White

It's a pretty crazy time here and I'm doing my best not to get too overwhelmed, so I very intentionally try to relax whenever I can. And I thought these soothing items fit that very well. I love the serene colors and subtle patterns.

What do you do to keep your cool during stressful times?

Owl Things Considered

A while ago I ordered a very cool owl shirt from Society6. And as it turns out Camille Chew, the artist who designed it, is also active as an artist on Etsy. Not with the same prints or apparel, but with amazing handmade jewelry!

A lot of the items feature owls, and most of them are patterned or marked with all sorts of symbols. A theme that shows up even more in the items from her Society6. So if that sounds interesting, definitely check that shop out too.

Many of the little owls above are already sold, but there are still a few available. As are the amazing earrings below.

There is plenty of non-owl-related jewelry in the shop too, including this awesome necklace and ones similar it.

All of these would be perfect to wear with colorful summer outfits! Anyway, you can find the rest in the shop. Enjoy!

Bristorium

I am absolutely smitten with the jewelry from Bristorium! I love the style, design and finish of pretty much all the pieces in this shop. What caught my eye initially was the beautiful collection of framed woodland creatures.

The animal designs are made into necklaces, rings and/or brooches. The latter being adorned with different types of ribbons depending on the design. Anyway, I love them! They look like something the protagonist from a really amazing book might wear. Perhaps an heirloom straight out of a beautiful middlegrade mystery novel...

What I really love about this shop is the attention to detail. It's not all polished down to perfectly straight lines and a factory-like finish, but it has character and balance and super nifty details. Like this reversible moth necklace.

Most designs definitely have natural elements. Some more flora than fauna. Like many of the earrings... Those are often made to resemble flowers or seedpods. And they also tend to have very intricate settings for the gem stones.

If you also adore the pieces I featured and would like to see more, I suggest you pay a visit to Bristorium on Etsy.
