Owl Things Considered

Anna Bratkova makes beautiful animals that are based on vintage teddy bears. All are made with vintage fabrics. And she even sells the patterns in case you prefer to make your own.

You can choose from all sorts of creatures. From beautiful owls to adorable bunnies to prickly hedgehogs.

And lots of cute teddy bears of course. And most even have little clothes or accessories!

For more animals, patterns and even vintage fabrics, visit Anna's shop.

Circle Songs #30

"I'm gonna be. I wanna be. I'm gonna be the woman that I should..."
{picture sources: 1 - 2 - 3}

It seems like in the last week of winter I've managed to catch some type of bug. I've been laying in bed, while wanting -so badly- to go out into the world and have fun. Soon, though. Soon!

Best of Friends

Have you heard about Willow and Merlin? Apparently they're inseparable and take walks together all the time.

I wish I could see them with my own eyes. I bet it would be worth the trip to North Wales. Isn't it amazing?

Wishlist: Meg Hunt for Threadless

You're probably aware of my fondness for Threadless by now. They never fail to release amazing prints. And one of their latest collaborations -the Meg Hunt collection- really blew my mind.

Her style is so cool! It's vintage-looking, it's otherworldly. I just adore it!

She makes fantasy creatures, but also real animals, and a fair share of owls as well. And her color palettes are fantastic!

Every design is available as a t-shirt, of course, but some also come as iPhone cases.
Click here to see the rest of Meg Hunt's collection. Or go to Threadless to browse around a bit.

Lovely Movies: I Wish

I recently came across a buy-one-get-one sale on Asian movies. Needless to say, I stocked up. It was such an amazing opportunity to finally get to see some true gems I know will never air on television. One of those was "I Wish".

It tells the story of two brothers that got seperated because of their parents' divorce. They keep in touch by telephone, but still long to live together again. Hence the pursuit of this magic moment they believe will grant that wish.

It's not a sad story though, nor is it about magic. It's just an amazing, road movie-esque film about kids being kids -and more mature than adults in some ways-, everyday adventures and making the most of whatever life throws at you.

If you ever get the chance to see this, I suggest you leap at the opportunity. I promise it'll be worth it!

Amazing Art: Inna Kapustenko

The illustrations of Inna Kupestenko are phenomenal. When I first saw them I sensed there was a fairy tale behind every single piece. So I was not surprised to find out she was actually also working on illustrations for books. Anyway, I'm sure you'll love these pieces!

Owl Things Considered

A tea lover can never have too many mugs. And I have to admit I often fall in love with a new one. Especially with these owl mugs I found on Etsy. They look so cozy and the colors are amazing. I just adore the teal one!

Just as awesome are these cat mugs. Like with the owl mugs above, you can pick all the colors. Which in this case means you can get your favorite color mug with a cat resembling your own.

I recommend you check out the Back Bay Pottery store. These mugs are just the tip of the iceberg really.  Enjoy!

How to Fly a... Stingray?!

Here's a beautiful and quite strange short animation I found today. It's not exactly a story, but it is definitely pretty to look at. Enjoy!

New to the Nest

Meet Henrietta. She is a bit shy and always seems to be looking for little nooks where she can blend in, but still observe everything. I'm sure she'll grow to be a bit more outgoing over time though.

Anyway, she was made by Caroline from Knittynudo, who makes all sorts of amazing little creatures with her mad needle felting skills. In her shop you'll find everything from owls, to rodents, to fantasy creatures.

Here are a few to give you an idea:

Visit Knittynudo to meet more lovely creatures!

Owl Things Considered

Every once in a while I find a really freaky owl item. This necklace from Cosmic Firefly definitely fits into that category. But I think most of us, owl loving girls, can identify with it a bit.

The shop is full of jewelry, mostly steampunk. Another one that really caught my eye is this pretty fairy. It's on sale now, so don't wait too long if you're hoping to get one.

This shop has over 700 items, so there is plenty to see! Just click here if you want to browse a bit.

Circle Songs #29

"I've got a few tears to dry before these blue shade days are gone. And I can stare into the sun..."
Stare into the Sun - Graffiti 6
{picture sources: 1 - 2 - 3}

It was really hard to stay happy with all the grey and cold weather, but then today the sun came out and it instantly lifted my spirits. I also finally got to wear my new pink jeans! It's always the little things, right?

Just a Little Tip...

And as you can see from my previous surprise bobby pins, it is a lovely thing to win! So go to her facebook and fill out that rafflecopter. Good luck!

Plans & Goals: March

Ok, I'm just going to be optimistic here and assume we'll have some nice weather this month. Maybe I'm setting myself up for disappointment, but at least I'll have the anticipation. Anyway, I hope to:

  • Visit a farmers' market.
  • Finally wear a dress again.
  • Read at least one Tiffany Aching-novel by Terry Pratchett.
  • Treat myself to some nice yarn.
  • Start planning this year's vacation, maybe.
  • Show you some things I got in the mail this February.
  • Play more guitar.
  • Eat something from a nice bakery.
  • Do some outfit posts again.

What are your plans for March?

Looking Back on February

This was such a cold month! It actually kept me from doing a lot of the things I had planned. On the other hand it did give me the opportunity to read and relax and drink even more tea than I usually do. Some highlights:

  • I added the cutest and oddest owl to my collection!
  • Celebrated Chinese New Year.
  • Read some amazing books -including the one above-
  • Received some pretty stationery!
  • Made a reader happy with a stunning necklace from Ruby Robin Boutique.
  • Ate a few delicious carrot cake muffins.
  • Made a wassupbrothers comic.
  • Survived a few days without any heating -not really a highlight, but I'm proud to be alive-
  • And started working on an amazing -but still secret- knitting project.

How did February treat you?
