Lovely Movies: Warm Bodies

When I first saw the poster for Warm Bodies I had no intention of seeing it at all. But then I saw the trailer and got really excited! So this week I went to the cinema to check it out. And I'm glad I did.

It's not too gory, not too cheesy, but instead it has the perfect balance of humor, horror and romance. While I was watching it suddenly dawned on me that it was a retelling of Romeo and Juliet. Only this time with Julie and R.

Watch till about 1:30:

Also, if you've seen About a Boy, I'm sure you'll enjoy this chance to see a more grown-up Nicholas Hoult. And he did such a great job too, especially as a narrator. Makes you wonder where he's been all these years.

Anyway, I'll be reading the book soon too, as I just got my copy in the mail this week. I hope I'll enjoy it as much as the movie.

Wishlist

If there's one thing that doesn't mix well with books, it is water. But this item has managed to combine the two nevertheless. They are book end vases. And though I really adore them, I don't think I would there place them anywhere near my actual books.

Anyway, they come in either yellow and orange or white and teal -which I think is the prettiest-, and they're available here.

Owl Things Considered

Have you seen ModCloth's new owl sweater? It's pretty adorable! And such an easy way to liven up black pants.

It is on the pricey side though, so we'll keep our fingers crossed for a sale, I guess.

Circle Songs #36

"I know more than I knew before. I didn't rest, I didn't stop..."
I feel it all - Feist
{picture sources: 1 - 2 - 3}

So many errands, so many things to look in to, check up on, etc. etc. It looked pretty hopeless at one point, but I sorted a lot out today. I'll probably have it a lot easier tomorrow and I'm thinking I should reward myself with a nice movie...

Lovely Series: Underemployed

It's been a cold, busy and exhausting week and I really needed to spend my weekend lying on the sofa watching tv. Thankfully there was an Underemployed weekend marathon. Thank you, MTV!

Ever since the trailer aired I'd been wanting to see this show. But I had only managed to catch one episode. Until this weekend of course, now I finally had my chance to make up for most of what I had missed.

Anyway, I love this show! Yes, there is quite some relationship-drama in it, but it's not -often- too whiny or cliché. Besides, it's also about friends and jobs and finding that one thing you really love to do. All this in a quirky, and often not so glamorous way. It might seem a bit shallow at first glance, but I think they did a pretty good job at showing the issues of twenty-somethings. Sure it is dramatized too, but that helps keep it interesting, right?

The Popsicle Project

My friend Julia from Hornrimmed Girl has just finished a lovely project! If your current climate is anything like mine, popsicles may be the furthest thing from your mind right now... but I have to admit that even in cold weather, the look of them still makes me smile.

I love how she included lots of different popsicles from lots of different countries. There are some that immediately bring back childhood memories and others I want to try quite desperately.

Like the one below! Doesn't it look delicous? And I love how it's so realistic, yet still clearly an illustration.

So, what do you think? A very yummy project, right? Check this link for more popsicles and for a wallpaper of "the Nogg".

If you're hoping to get a print of this collection of popsicles -or of just one- let us know below. Because Julia is still on the fence about selling these posters on Etsy. But with enough demand, she'll make it happen.

And don't forget to check out Julia's blog for movie reviews, design updates and whatever else is on her mind or camera.

Wishlist

Now I'm not one for incredibly high heels, and not often one for wedges either. But I fell head over heels with these cat shoes from ModCloth. So cute! And that color? Wow.
Aren't they spectacular? If only you could walk in them... I'm definitely keeping my eyes open for a flatter version.
I love cute cat items! Did you find any nice feline merchandise lately? Or any other animals? I mean, all day-to-day items can be improved with a bit of an animal-touch, right?

Amazing Art: Painted Moon Gallery

Painted Moon Gallery on Etsy is filled with amazing art work. Not only that, but the majority seems to have owls! Most paintings are very ethereal, lots have native American themes and all are absolutely beautiful!

This next owl is one of very few "indoor" paintings. Most of them take place in forests, plains, mountains or even water.

I love their dreamlike and spiritual atmosphere and I think they would look amazing as a tarot/oracle card deck or even on a bookcover. Anyway, I'll let you get on with the rest. Enjoy!

And check out the shop for more!

Owl Things Considered

Who would have thought that old computers could be transformed into magnificent owls? Well Richard from strangedaze proves it can be done. Just look at this amazing spirit owl! Quite spectacular, isn't it?

He also made a little bird, which I might love even more, because it looks so colorful and cute!

You can find his sculptures and painting on Etsy. And there are some pretty amazing ones in the sold-section as well.

Circle Songs #35

"And now it's just a work of art on my wall and in my mind..."
Sunny Side - Kaki King
{pictures source: 1 - 2 - 3}

The majority of my new place has a fresh coat of paint on it and it's suddenly making everything very real. I'm really excited about it, but sometimes I'm also very aware of how I'm leaving things behind. It's for the best, I know that, but when you head into the unknown there's always a slightly anxious voice screaming to be heard as well.

Lovely Movies: Summer Days with Coo

Good news! I discovered another lovely Japanese animation film. Summer Days with Coo is a bit odd, very sad at times -especially the beginning-, but overall just wonderful to watch. And some of the animated backgrounds look so real!

I've always wished that I'd find a fantasy creature somewhere, so movies like this are the next best thing. I had never heard of Kappas before, but apparently they were already a big myth in Japan. And this one's very cute.

And I love how the Japanese often urge people to cherish nature through their amazing animations. Even though these creatures don't exist, their habitats still harbor lots of other animals that need protection.
Who says movies are a bad influence on kids? They can teach great things as well, right?

Wishlist

H&M Home seems to get better and better! A while back they released some amazing owls, and now they have all sorts of pretty pastels! One of the items I have my eye on is this adorable cake tray.

It might not be a necessity for my new place, but it would definitely look amazing. And a housewarming party would be a perfect excuse, right?

Don't these make you want to make pretty cakes and cookies and pastries? I bet it could make anything look cute though!

They come in three cute colors: white, blue or pink. And there's a matching tin available as well.
Decisions, decisions...

Owl Things Considered

Aren't these the cutest little owl bowls? They're actually meant as prep bowls, but would be really cute around the house too.

If I were to get my hands on a set I'm sure they -or at least the two bigger ones- would end up in my kitchen though. They're the perfect colors!

What would you use them for?

Circle Songs #34

Home - Phillip Phillips
{picture sources: 1 - 2 - 3 }

After so many months of waiting, things are finally taking off with my apartment. It is getting painted this very week! Yes, there are still a few things that need taken care of, but it won't be long till I can start decorating and moving.

Wishlist

I am smitten with these adorable miniature forests by brother-sister team 2of2. They look so soft and dreamlike, and of course it helps that most of them perfectly match the color scheme I had in mind for my new place!

And I think that -especially living in the city- it is good to have some things in your home that remind you of nature.

But 2of2 has some other lovely items as well. Like this intriguing iridescent home, that switches between bright neon and light and ethereal depending on how the light hits it.

And there are even a few adorable pocket sized monsters for sale!

Visit the shop to see their entire collection! And if you're as hooked on Pinterest as I am, you might want to follow them there too. Enjoy!

Amazing Art: inameliart

If you're browsing Etsy a lot, I'm sure you've zome across inameliart at some point. The shop is run by Amelia, a lovely artist with a wonderful talent for creating adorable animals on canvas.

You can even get custom work done, like a portrait of your pet for instance.

But there are plenty of ready made pieces too, with all sorts of species on them.

I love that they're all very merry -a lot are even party-themed- but very serene as well. They make you both happy and calm!

Amelia is actually doing a giveaway on her blog right now. Click this link if you'd like to join in!
Visit Amelie's shop to see more paintings and prints. And be sure to follow her blog too, so you will see what new pieces she's working on.
