Lovely Movies: Must Love Dogs

The whole idea that you can somehow "fix" your whole life by getting a boyfriend/girlfriend is pretty absurd to me and movies that claim that sometimes rub me the wrong way. However, Must Love Dogs was still an awesome movie.

It's a pretty simple story with a pretty obvious ending, but it had so many good things as well. The cast, for instance, was amazing. I mean... Diane Lane, John Cusack, Stockard Channing and Christopher Plummer. They really helped make this movie into something more than what the synopsis must look like.

Anyway, it's a lovely movie that will make you laugh a bunch of times and leave you with a good feeling. If you're hoping to cheer up a dreary fall day, I definitely recommend it.

In the Mail...

Having been an admirer of Stasia Burrington for years now, I jumped at the opportunity to win one of her necklaces at Pony Chops. You can probably imagine my excitement when the actual necklace showed up at my door!

I got to take my pick from all the necklaces and ended up going for this simple and delicate cicada. Isn't it stunning?!

So far it is the only Stasia Burrington item I own, but I like to think that will change after I move into my apartment and start thinking about putting some art on my walls. I seem to love everything, so that will be one tough choice!

Here are a few things that currently fill her lovely shop:

I love her mix of creepy, quirky and elegant! Her style is so unique. You'll always recognize her work immediately.
Anyway, she's always making new things too, so I suggest you subscribe to her blog if you want to stay in the loop.

Greek Cats pt.2: Lazy Cats

During this trip I've seen some of the most relaxed cats I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Pretty much any direction you'd look, any street you'd walk, any shop you'd enter, had a cat. A true cat lover's heaven!

A Life in a Song

It is probably impossible to not love Yann Tiersen's music for Amelie, it is just so beautiful and magical. And today I found a wonderful animation to accompany perhaps his most famous song. Enjoy!

Greek Cats pt.1

There were a lot of cats in Greece! There were cute cats and mean cats and it was tricky finding out in which category they belonged. On my very first night I got scratched, so from then on, instead of petting them, I took their pictures.

There will be a second -and even better- cat post later this week! This time full of lazy cats.

Circle Songs #38

"So you say everything's gonna be alright now, and that's how I know..."
The Babysitters Circus - Everything's Gonna Be Alright
{pictures: all taken myself}

I'm barely settled in again, yet I already managed to get a cold. It's making me miss Greece even more. So I'm just reminiscing through pictures and the songs I kept hearing there. And keeping my fingers crossed for sunshine!

And I'm Back...

Back from paradise and straight into some hardcore fall weather. Needless to say I'm desperately clinging to that vacation feeling. Looking through the photos seems to help. Hopefully it'll stretch your summer out a bit, too!

I'll be back with some other posts -with more cohesive picture series- about my trip to Greece soon, but I thought I'd start with some general impressions to give you a little taste of what's to come when I've had a chance to sort things out.

As you can probably tell, it was pretty heavenly. Warm weather, the most gorgeous sunsets and hidden little surprises in nearly every street. Not to even mention all the adorable animals roaming the streets...

So check back soon!

And I'm Off...

My suitcase is packed and I'm ready to go. I'll be away for about 2 weeks. You'll see a new post when I'm back home.

What are you up to in the meantime? Any exciting plans too? I'd love to hear about them!

Plans & Goals: September

Because I'm waiting for some others to finish things in my new apartment and because I also booked a last minute trip, I don't know if I'll be able to do a whole lot this month. But I'm still making a list and doing my best. I'd like to:

  • Buy these delicous chocolate-orange biscuits from M&S again.
  • Make sure I have a working closet for my wardrobe.
  • Learn more Django Reinhardt-style guitar things.
  • Actually put my new bed in my new bedroom.
  • Get back on my book reading-schedule.
  • Have someone over for tea in my new place.
  • Go see "The Heat".
  • Cast on a proper winter sweater.
  • And have an amazing time in Greece!

Are you trying to make your summer last longer too? Do you have any special plans?
