Lovely Movies: Chef

I keep on catching amazing movies in the last week they're showing, and I'm always so glad I didn't miss them. This was definitely the case with Chef. I was convinced I was way too late, but I got lucky and managed to still see it!

It was, without a doubt, one of the best movies 2014 had to offer. Jon Favreau did an amazing job! He wrote it, directed it and gave us some phenomenal acting as well. As did the rest of the fantastic cast, including the kid.

The moment this movie comes out on DVD, it's mine. This is one of those stories that makes you all excited about food and cooking again, and even life in general. It's the perfect cheer-up film for any rainy day!

P.S. This movie also shows that Scarlett Johansson and Christina Ricci can look eerily alike. Who would have thought?!

Lovely Movies: The Hundred Foot Journey

When my mom and I saw the trailer for this film we knew we would go see it together. And this week, we did. It was wonderful! A bit predictable, (and it had a terrible cringeworthy introduction to Helen Mirren's character) but amazing nevertheless.

It was about amazing food and a bunch of generally lovely people. I also liked that it wasn't all -for the lack of a better word- "chirpy", but that there were some adversities as well. However, it was still very much a feel-good film!

Also, it was produced by Stephen Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey, and directed by Lasse Hallström. Need I say more?

Lovely Movies: Begin Again

I loved this movie so much that I actually hope to go see it again before it leaves the cinema. It was bound to be good, of course. How could a feelgood movie about a singer/songwriter with Mark Ruffolo in it be anything but amazing?

The story revolves around a singer-songwriter that has just broken up with her rockstar boyfriend and then crosses paths with a record producer after he has just been fired from the company he founded. Together they "Begin Again".

This is the part where I normally post the trailer, but today I won't. You should just trust my judgement and go see it. Anything I show you now will only spoil the surprise. Just know that it is wonderful, funny and quite inspiring.

Lovely Movies: A Weekend in Paris

After being cooped up for so long, I really started to miss going to the cinema. So I decided to just go and see what was on. It turned out to be A Weekend in Paris, a film I had heard of but that had slipped my mind completely.

So many movies pass me by and I could have easily missed this little gem. It made me laugh, but made me a little sad at times too. And having been to Paris a few times, I could relate to some of the travel-things in as well.

Anyway, go see this. This is so much more interesting than the same old young-couple Hollywood story. This is real people, mistakes, quirks and all. How they might grow apart but are still bound to each other. It was lovely!

Lovely Movies: Intouchables

Intouchables has turned into a big art house hype, and rightfully so. It is one of the best movies I've ever seen. In fact, it's such a special story that I could hardly believe anyone can just walk in a theater and see it. It's such a special one of a kind movie that it gives me the odd feeling that I'm the only one in the world tho have seen it. Weird, I know!
