I knew up front that 2014 was going to be busier than the year before, so I set my reading goal at 35 books, instead of 50. I actually managed to surpass that by reading 7 more, which makes for a total of 42 books in 2014!
You might wonder why one pile is facing the wrong direction… Well, I got a library card this year, and those are stand-ins for the books I borrowed and returned. If you're really curious you can check my goodreads for all titles.
As for favorites, there is one book I really loved that I'll share with you later on in the year (as I have yet to give a copy to a friend of mine and don't want to spoil the surprise), but there's another one I adored too, and that is Lost Cat by Caroline Paul.
It is a non-fiction book about the author's cat running away and her trying to track it down. There's a lot more to it actually, but that should give you an idea. It is illustrated by Caroline Paul's partner, who experienced everything first hand as well. Anyway, it was wonderful! Funny, touching and a little sad at times. I'd recommend it to any cat lover!
How did your reading go in 2014? Was there any book you particularly enjoyed or would like to recommend?
hehe i love that first picture with tofu's tail sticking out! :D finishing 42 books is amazing! i started on 50 books in 2014 but i stopped reading perhaps a quarter of them because they just weren't cutting it.
ReplyDeletemy favourite book of 2014 happens to be a graphic novel instead of a conventional book: maus by art spiegelman. i borrowed my copy from the library and liked it so much, it's a wonder how i haven't ordered myself a copy off bookdepository.com yet!
2014 was great when it came to the books... I read many fantasy ones and dystopian ones...
ReplyDeleteYay books! You know I haven't read any amazing books lately.
ReplyDeleteI spy two of my favorite books!
ReplyDeleteHiiii Tofu! ^_^
ReplyDeleteI was so pleased to see you surpassed your goal this year and thank you so much for all the book recommendations you continue to forward my way! Please keep them coming - you taught me the way of Oddfish, after all! ;)
I think the book I like the most from my Goodreads challenge was "Dead to the World" (Sookie Stackhouse #4).
R's brother bought me a new book for Christmas The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden and I'm on Chapter 3 already, so I'm off to a good start I hope!
